Atlantis Rising Quotes

Play Time 45-90 minutes
# Players 1–6
Ages 10+

In Atlantis Rising, you must work together with up to five other players to deploy citizens across your homeland, gathering resources to build a cosmic gate that can save your civilization. But with each passing turn more of the island is destroyed, threatening to jeopardize your mission of saving your homeland. The Isle of Atlantis, your home, is sinking. Will you be able to save it in time?

Atlantis Rising is a co-operative game built around the board game mechanisms of worker placement and pressing-your-luck. Each round, players will first place their Atlanteans into different action areas where they will gather different resources. To gather resources successfully, you must roll dice for each worker and attain a certain value. The closer you place your workers to the shore, the easier it will be to gather resources, but the more likely you will be to lose your worker to the rising flood waters.

To aid you in your task of saving Atlantis, players seek out world-changing knowledge and mystical energies that can help them find resources and stave off the catastrophic floods. Disaster, however, is always looming over your head. Every turn, each player draws a misfortune card that will flood certain locations along the ever-shrinking Atlantis shoreline, or may otherwise work to undermine your efforts to save your home. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you may find a brief respite in momentary calm seas.

Originally a 2012 release, Atlantis Rising has been out of print and difficult to find for some time. Elf Creek Games is excited to be working alongside designer Galen Ciscell to offer a revised second edition, which looks to expand upon and improve the original game experience. Joining our team for this project is acclaimed illustrator Vincent Dutrait, who will begin principal work this fall after Essen Spiel. We cannot wait to see what he has in store for the fabled isle.
